Every spring at The Queens County Farm Museum, myself, with fellow Spin City Meetup members, demonstrate fiber preparation, spinning, and weaving at their semi-annual Sheep Shearing and Farm Open House. In return, each of us are blessed with a portion of their Cotswold sheep's fleece.
I decided a to produce a celebratory throw. Here is a diary of its progression. It is hand everything–spun, plant dyed, knitted and assembled. The farm museum makes for a great day trip into to a wonderful place–a reminder of New York City's past, its relevance today, and value for the future.
